Words Can Soothe the Soul…
We all know that it is better to live in the present moment than drown in worries about a future mired in uncertainties. In fact we should not worry about anything. Whatever is destined not to happen will never happen, try as you may. Whatever is destined to happen will happen, do what you may to prevent it. This is certain. The faculty of imagination given to us is for creativity. It should not be misused for worrying. But somehow, just saying it doesn’t lift the curse of worrying.
It takes special words for that, special thoughts that resonate, reverberate in our minds on that special frequency of understanding, the wisdom that appeals to our subtle intellect which gives us a deeper insight about life and the world around us.
There are words that can help and some of them are here…
No matter how good or bad we think life is we need to wake up each day and be thankful for life. Somewhere someone else is fighting to survive.
A small positive thought in the morning can change our whole day.
The struggle we are in today is developing the strength we need for tomorrow. Don’t give up.
Never wish life were easier, wish that you were better equipped to deal with it.
Difficult doesn’t mean impossible. It simply means we have to work hard.
When life knocks us down, we have two choices: stay down or get up. Getting knocked down by life happens to everyone at some point in their lives and there is nothing wrong in it. But there is everything wrong in continuing to keep lying down. Don’t lie down like a stone, but bounce back with equal force like a rubber ball. Get up, get on your feet and keep moving.
“A successful man is one who lays a firm foundation with the bricks that others throw at him.”
— Swami Chinmayananda
“Someone once asked me how I hold my head up so high after all I’ve been through. I said it’s because no matter what, I am a survivor – not a victim.”
– Patricia Buckley
Don’t place your mistakes on your head, their weight may crush you. Instead, place them under your feet and use them as a platform to raise yourself.
When you have come to the edge of all light that you know and are about to drop off into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing that one of the two things will happen: there will be something solid to stand on or you will be taught to fly.
Have no hatred for anything or being, even for a fraction of a moment — even in a dream. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Since hate poisons the soul, do not cherish hatred. We nurture grievances. This results in loss of sleep and other ailments. The insult, injury or harm was done once, but nourishing of grievance goes on endlessly by constantly remembering it. Our enemies are not those who hate us, but those whom we hate. The one we hate occupies a rent-free space in our minds. Forgive everyone for everything. Forgive, forget and march on. Love flourishes in giving and forgiving.
“As I walked out the door toward my freedom I knew that if I did not leave all the anger hatred and bitterness behind that I would still be in prison.”
– Nelson Mandela
Some people come into our lives as blessings and others come into our lives as lessons. Both are valuable for our development, progress and success, in the worldly life as well as on the spiritual path.
A hug can lift pain and worries from the heart, bringing hope and love back into the soul of someone who is desperately hurting.
