Why Do We Fail?

Words of Wisdom

1) Lack of Persistence: More people fail not because they lack knowledge or talent but because they quit. The total secret of success lies in two words, Persistence and Resistance. Persist in what must be done and resist what ought not to be done.

When problems seem insurmountable, quitting seems to be the easiest way out….

When faced with a challenge, look for a way, not a way out.

The tallest oak in the forest was once just a little nut that held its ground.

Don’t ever give up out of frustration.

To succeed in your mission, you must have single-minded devotion to your goal.”

A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India

We should not give up and we should not allow the problem to defeat us.

A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India

Winners are struck, but not destroyed. We all have had setbacks in life. Failing does not mean we are failures.

If you fail, never give up because FAIL means “First Attempt In Learning”.

A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India

Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough.”

A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India

2) Lack of Conviction: People who lack conviction take the middle of the road; and guess what happens in the middle of the road? We get run over!

People without conviction do not take a stand. Those who do not take a stand for anything, tend to fall for everything. They go along to get along because they lack confidence and courage.

They conform in order to get accepted, even when they know that what they are doing is wrong.

3) Rationalizing: Winners may analyze, but never rationalize. That is a loser’s game. Losers always have a book full of excuses to tell others why they failed or why they could not make it.

We hear excuses like….

  • I am unlucky
  • I don’t have right contacts
  • The economy is bad
  • I don’t have enough money
  • If only I had the right opportunity
  • If only I didn’t have family responsibility
  • I am not good looking
  • I am going through a bad phase in my destiny
  • I am born under the wrong stars

Great successful people look at themselves as victors over circumstances,

not victims of circumstances.

4) Not Learning from Past Mistakes: Some people live and learn and some only live. Intelligent people learn from their mistakes. Wise people learn from others’ mistakes.

People who don’t learn from their mistakes are doomed. They are condemned to repeat it. Experience is a name we give to our mistakes. Experience teaches, but at the cost of mistakes. Failure is a teacher if we have the right attitude. Failure is a detour, not a dead end. It is a delay, not a defeat.

5) Lack of Discipline: Anyone who has accomplished anything worthwhile has never done so without discipline.

Discipline requires self-control, sacrifice and avoiding distractions and temptations. It means staying focused. Steam does not move the engine unless it is confined. Niagara Falls would not generate power unless it were harnessed.

6) Poor Self-Esteem: Poor self-esteem is a lack of self-worth and self-respect. It leads to abuse of one’s self and others. People with low self-esteem are constantly looking for identity. They are trying to find themselves. One’s self-esteem, self-respect and self-worth are not to be found anywhere, but one has to create them oneself.

Idleness and laziness are consequences of poor self-esteem and so is making excuses. Idleness is like rust that eats into the most brilliant metal.

7) Fatalistic Attitude: A fatalistic attitude prevents people from accepting responsibility for their position in life. They attribute success and failure to luck or chance. They resign themselves to fate.

They have a very pessimistic view about everything. In any venture, in the beginning itself they start off with the thought that however much effort they put in they are bound to fail. They are geniuses in imagining problems for every solution! Hence they never put in any effort and complacency becomes a way of life. They wait for things to happen rather than make them happen.

If we want to be happy and successful in life, we need to rectify the flaws and defects we have, that are the biggest obstacles on the path of our development, progress and evolution, and which tend to pull us down.

Yes i agree to many reasons for our failure, as it becomes very difficult for a person to accept as a failure. So he or she at the time of failure opens his dictionary of unacceptable reason, rather to accept our failure as an attempt. Always learn from your failure and attempt with more energy…and you will definitely succeed. Just change your attitude towards failure and you will see the changes…
Even after reading this valuable article, i recognize my mistake which i did in my past….but assure that now i am more positive and will try my best to “NOT TO FAIL”..

    HARI AUM!
