Importance of Moving on in Life

Letting go and moving on should be a freeing and restorative experience. We need to deal with our emotions and face our fears about losing control. We need to gain control of ourselves and our responsibilities.

Hopefully, these words of wisdom will give us a new perspective on the issues that may torment us, be it a grief, a tragic event, an old grudge, a broken heart, or a mistake we can’t forgive ourselves for.

Life moves forward. The old leaves wither, die and fall away, and the new growth extends forward into the light.” Bryant McGill

“The answer to every adversity lies in courageously moving forward with faith.” Edmond Mbiaka

“Some of us think holding on makes us strong, but sometimes it is letting go.” Hermann Hesse

“Holding on is believing that there’s only a past; letting go is knowing that there’s a future.” Daphne Rose

“You can clutch the past so tightly to your chest that it leaves your arms too full to embrace the present.” Jan Glidewell

“Anything I cannot transform into something marvelous, I let go.” Anais Nin

“When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be. When I let go of what I have, I receive what I need.” Lao Tzu

“Once you realize you deserve a bright future, letting go of your dark past is the best choice you will ever make.” Roy T. Bennett

“We must be willing to let go of the life we’ve planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us.” Joseph Campbell

“Creativity requires the courage to let go of certainties.” Erich Fromm

“Why let go of yesterday? Because yesterday has already let go of you.” Steve Maraboli

“Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose.” Lyndon B. Johnson

“Breathe. Let go. And remind yourself that this very moment is the only one you know you have for sure.” Oprah Winfrey

Be Present in the Here and Now.

Don’t spend too much of your time going over what happened in the past or planning for the future as it will stop you from experiencing the present moment. Keep your mind focused on what is happening to you right now and remember that happiness can only exist in the present moment. The past is gone and the future is yet to come, so the present is all we have.

The mind tends to dwell in the past or wander into the future. The mind forges a chain to bind itself to the dead past or to an uncertain future, constantly avoiding the present.

The mind should be freed from the past, which exists but as memory, and the future, which exists but as worry a mixture of fear and hope. Only the present is.

Be mindful of where you are in this moment or simply be aware of your breathing. When you do this, your mind will start to open up and appreciate all that you have right now.

“If you want to fly, you need to leave the earth. If you want to move forward, you need to let go of the past that drags you down.” Amit Ray
