Overwhelming Sorrows…

happyalways

When sadness and sufferings become intense and intolerable, know for certain that a new era is going to dawn bringing signal progress.

The world even if we hold on to will slip; and God, even if we want to leave him, will not abandon us.

To let go is not to cut ourselves off; it’s the realization that we can’t control another.

To let go is to admit powerlessness, which means the outcome is not in our hands.

To let go is not to try to change and blame another, we can change only ourselves.

To let go is not to regret the past, but to grow and live in the present.

To let go is to fear less and to love more.

Running away is no solution. Running away to where and from whom? Can we run away from our own mind? We need to face the world and get hit by the world. Let the world drop us again and again. It is the means to destroy the ego! Moksha (liberation) is not “Freedom from action” but “Freedom in action”.

We need to stop all our attachments to false values. In an ever changing, impermanent world, there is nothing worthwhile for us to desire or weep for. Joys and sorrows are bound to come in human life; they are just like the two sides of the same coin.

It is bondage when the mind desires or grieves at anything, rejects or accepts anything, feels happy or angry at anything. Liberation is attained when the mind does not desire or grieve or reject or accept or feel happy or angry.

It is bondage when the mind is attached to any sense experience. It is liberation when the mind is detached from all sense experiences.

In the dreamless deep sleep state the ego is absent and therefore we are untouched by the ephemeral or fleeting happiness and miseries, joys and sorrows, pleasures and pain, tragedies and comedies, etc. of the waking plane as well as dream state of consciousness. Therefore, when there is no I (ego), there is liberation; when there is ‘I‘ (ego) there is bondage. Considering thus refrain from accepting or rejecting anything.

The ultimate purpose of human life is to attain blissful ego-less state in the waking plane of consciousness.

We are free once we understand that our bondage is of our own making and we cease forging the chains that bind us.

The body can’t be happy or unhappy. The one who is happy or unhappy is the finite ego.

Liberation is the freedom from the alternating sense of happiness and unhappiness. Liberation is the total final awareness that the ego is a fictitious entity and therefore there is no doer, no experiencer  only objectless, thoughtfree, Absolute, Infinite, Eternal Blissful Awareness.

Many others have suffered much worse compared to what we may be experiencing right now. Yet they endured it and ultimately emerged victorious.

The soul that is without suffering does not feel the need of knowing the ultimate cause of the universe and realize one’s own essential Self nor does the question “who am I” will ever arise in such a one. Sickness, grief, hardships… are all indispensable elements in the spiritual ascent.

It may also be the dark night of fear and horror, which many spiritual seekers speak of, from where they emerged as the Enlightened Masters.

May the Almighty Lord bestow upon us the strength to endure and the light to clear the darkness of confusion we find ourselves in.
